RIN-NE Anime to Debut on April 4, 2015

NHK has announced that the 25-episode anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s RIN-NE manga will begin airing on NHK’s educational channel E Tere (NHK-E) at 17:30 on April 4 (JST) on April 4, 2015. Brain’s Base is producing the series, Seiki Sugawara is directing, and Michiko Yokote is doing series composition.

Unfortunately, RIN-NE has been the least successful series for Takahashi during her 37-year career as a manga artist. While the 56th and final volume (February 2009) of her last work Inuyasha sold 266,570 copies in Japan, the latest 23rd volume (November 2014) of RIN-NE sold only 22,993, less than one-tenth of Inuyasha (based on Oricon’s sales report).
