Kodansha Comics Announces Six New Manga Licenses

Kodansha Comics announced during an appearance at Kinokuniya Books in New York that the company has acquired six new manga licenses:

  • Appleseed a by Iou Kuroda: This is a prequel to Masamune Shirow’s Appleseed manga. The series was launched in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine in July 2014 and the first compiled volume in Japan will ship on January 20, 2015. Kodansha Comics did not announce a release date for this title in North America.
  • Maria the Virgin Witch Exhibition by Masayuki Ishikawa: This is a sequel manga to Maria the Virgin Witch that ended in Japan on December 6, 2014. The only compiled volume was released in Japan earlier this month. Ishikawa began the manga in July 2014 after ending the Maria the Virgin Witch series. Kodansha Comics will release this title in August 2015.
  • Fairy Girls by BOKU: This is a spin-off manga of the Fairy Tail series, and it made its debut in Kodansha’s Magazine Special on November 20, 2014. Kodansha Comics will release the first volume in Fall 2015.
  • Die Wergelder by Hiroaki Samura: Samura launched this series in Kodansha’s Nemesis magazine in 2011, and the main story ended in 2014. Kodansha Comics will publish the first volume in Fall 2015.
  • Livingstone by Jinsei Kataoka and Tomohiro Maekawa: The series runs in Kodansha’s Morning magazine. Kodansha Comics will publish the first volume in North America in Fall 2015.
  • Kiss Him, Not Me by Junko: This series began in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Friend magazine in 2013. Crunchyroll is releasing the manga online as it’s published in Bessatsu Friend. Kodansha Comics plans to release the first volume in North America in Fall 2015.

Kodansha Comics also announced that the company will release the second volume in its Attack on Titan Colossal omnibus line. This omnibus will contains Volumes Six through 10 for US$49.99 and will hit store shelves in September 2015.
