The Japan Society in New York City will be hosting a screening of scary anime shorts at the Obake Family Day event at the Japan Society Gallery on November 2, 2014.

The shorts will run from 11:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and will feature works by Oscar-nominated animators Koji Yamamura and Shuhei Morita as well as students from the Tokyo University of the Arts who studied under Yamamura.

The shorts being screened for the Obake Family Day even include:

Spirit of the Night (7 min.)
Directed by Hiroko Satsuma

Fox Spirit (3 min.)
Directed by Hitomi Nakamura

The Elevator (8 min.)
Directed by Koji Yamamura

Kakurenbo (25 min.)
Directed by Shuhei Morita

Obake Family Day will also feature a photo booth, haunted house, crafts, storytelling sessions, and guests will be able to view the Japan Society’s Garden of Unearthly Delights exhibition throughout the day.

Advanced tickets to the event are US$12 for adults, US$10 for Japan Society members, and US$6 for kids and US$5 for Japan Society members. Day of tickets will cost US$15 for adults and US$12 for Japan Society members, and US$8 for kids and US$6 for Japan Society members.
