AnimeNation.net’s Gene Field announced on September 13, 2014 on both the company’s site and social media accounts that the online retail company is closing shop after 20 years.
Field gave the following statement: “After 20 years, we’ve decided to get out of the retail game. A heartfelt thanks to all our great customers over the years, and all of the terrific employees that made AnimeNation a fun & dynamic place to work. At times it’s been a dream come true. We’ve been doing this a long time though, and it’s just time to move on to new and different challenges.”
In addition to that statement, Field also explained that RentAnime.com will continue with more focus. The site’s forums, news blog, and Facebook page will remain active.
The store will be sending out emails to customers regarding current orders and customers can contact the store at email@example.com regarding cancellations, refunds, shipment tracking, and other inquiries.
AnimeNation was founded in 1995 and established its AN Entertainment branch in 2003. The company licensed and released the Omishi Magical Theater: Risky Safety, Miami Guns, and Haré+Guu anime in North America.
