A Kickstarter campaign has been launched for an original 24-minute anime titled, Under the Dog. The project is trying to raise US$580,000 by September 7, 2014. If funded, the project will be in Japanese with English subtitles, and will also include the original soundtrack and behind-the-scenes diaries and interviews.

The project aims to carry the tradition of older sci-fi anime, such as Akira and Ghost in the Shell, and the material was written between 1994 and 1995. The production team has turned to Kickstarter to avoid the process of funding from production committees in order to retain creative control. If this Kickstarter campaign is successful, the production team hopes to expand with more projects in the Under the Dog universe.

As of this writing, the campaign has raised US$16,261.
