Anime News Network is reporting that anime voice actor Shuusei Nakamura passed away in a Tokyo hospital on July 30, 2014. He was 79 years old at the time of his passing.

Nakamura was born in Tokyo and attended Ueda High School in Nakano Prefecture. After graduating, he attended Shinshu University. Nakamura began acting on stage in the late 1950’s, but then went into voice acting with foreign films in the early 1960’s. By the late 1960’s, Nakamura was doing voice acting for anime.

Namakura’s credits include Tohru Rikiishi in Ashita no Joe, Coach Hongo in Attack No. 1, Yoshio Minami in Dokonjo Gaeru, and Daisuke Shima in the Space Battleship Yamato franchise.
