The official website for Sgt. Frog has announced that a new anime adaptation has been green-lit. This new adaptation will be a flash anime airing on television that will be titled, Keroro. The anime will premiere on the Animax television channel in Japan in Spring 2014.

Haruki Kasugamori will be directing the anime for Sunrise, and animation studio Gathering will be providing assistance with the animation.

The original cast will be returning for the new anime:

  • Kumiko Watanabe is Sgt. Keroro
  • Houko Kuwashima is Fuyuki Hinata
  • Chiwa Saito is Natsumi Hinata
  • Etsuko Kozakura is Private Second Class Tamama
  • Jouji Nakata is Corporal Giroro
  • Takehito Koyasu is Sergant Major Kululu
  • Takeshi Kusao is Lance Corporal Dororo

FUNimation Entertainment has licensed the first three seasons of Sgt. Frog and released them on DVD in North America, after ADV Films had licensed but not released the anime. The original Sgt. Frog anime with 15-minute episodes ran for seven years on Japanese television, from 2004 to 2011, and it spawned five feature films.
