Stella Women’s Academy, High School Division Class C3 is an anime series set at Stella Women’s Academy, and focuses on a new student named Yura Yamato. Yura is a new freshman at the school, and she’s a timid girl with a rather vivid imagination. Yura ends up joining the C3-Bu Club, which is a club at the school that plays “survival games” with air guns.
Episode six sees the club’s budget dwindling down to the point that Honoka says they can’t spend any more money on snacks and tea so they can afford to go to a 24-hour tournament that’s coming up. When it’s asked if there’s enough to do both the cultural festival and the tournament, they are told no. Sonora comes up with the idea of using the money for the tournament as their budget for the cultural fair, and then using what the club makes at the cultural fair to pay for the tournament. The rest of the club agrees to this plan.
Unfortunately, the first couple of ideas they come up with for the festival end up backfiring, and they also use up the money that had been saved for the tournament. After looking around the club room and deciding to use what they have, they see there are costumes, tea sets, and guns. They end up putting together a cosplay shooting café.
The remainder of the episode focuses on what happens at the café during the cultural festival. This portion of the episode also introduces Karila’s brother, who is part of an opera group at another school that also participates in survival games.
With a series set at a high school, you basically have to anticipate a cultural festival episode showing up at some point, and it ended up showing up at the halfway point of the series. While the cultural festival episode of a series is sometimes strictly “filler” material, it’s actually relevant here. After finding out that Karila’s brother’s group is also planning to participate in the 24-hour tournament, this clued me in that this tournament is going to end up being a major plot point for the series. Since the club needs money in order to get to this event, this episode becomes important.
Episode six is another light-hearted episode, just like episode five was. However, it makes sense to have some light-hearted episodes here, since this is the halfway point of the series. I have a suspicion that after this, the focus will be on whatever tournaments are left. I don’t know if we’ll necessarily see the 24-hour tournament showing up immediately or if that will end up being the climax for the series.
Stella Women’s Academy, High School Division Class C3 is a series I have come to enjoy and anticipate watching week after week. At this point, I suspect I’m going to be seeing this series through to the end.
